PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Media Center Paraprofessional is responsible to the Principal. The Media Center Paraprofessional must be able to perform tasks involving light lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. Vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Associate’s Degree or two years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of college orsuccessful completion of the Georgia Paraprofessional Certification Test.
2.Valid Paraprofessional Certificate
3.Be able to work well with adults and students, and possess good communication skills.
4.Be well organized and have good time management skills.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Assume responsibility for the operation of the media center in absence of the Media Specialist.

2. Assist the Media Specialist in maintaining orderly, neat, and attractive atmosphere in the media center.

3. Operate media center electronic circulation system according to established procedures.

4. Assist students and staff in the location and utilization of media center materials and equipment.

5. Assist the Media Specialist in all phases of acquisition, processing, and circulation of media resources.

6. Work with the Media Specialist with various groups, such as volunteers, student workers, etc.

7. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of reports and correspondence.

8. Aid in maintaining and repairing media center materials and equipment.

9.Help to prepare and assemble materials.

10. Assist with the production of media center displays and special programs.

11.Participate in the yearly inventory of media center materials and equipment.

12. Be available to attend faculty meetings and other meetings, including workshops, as required.

13. Be physically able to perform tasks involving light to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand a minimum of six (6) hours with breaks.

14. Must be physically able to operate office equipment such as word processors, copying machines, and other equipment requiring use of fingers, hands, eyes, and ears.

15. Perform other such duties as may be required by the Principal.

16. Maintain the work hours set by the school Administrator.
