Sign Language Educational Interpreter

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education, Building Administrator(s)

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Interpreter provides interpreting and/or transliterating services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in the educational environment.  This environment includes classrooms, field trips, assemblies, counseling sessions, club meetings, extra-curricular activities, IEP meetings, and other educational settings.

 

CREDENTIALS: Quality Assurance Interpreting (QA-I) and Quality Assurance Transliteration (QA-T) Certification (minimum) Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) National Certification

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have an Associate Degree from a two year interpreting program or a Level I Interpreting Certificate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1)   Provides expressive and voice interpreting (may include American Sign Language, a form of manually coded English; and/or oral interpreting) for D/HH students in the educational environment.

 

WORK YEAR:190 days
