Physical Therapist
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist designs, analyzes, facilitates, and manages therapy procedures for special needs students in the classroom, community program/facility, or home-based setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Valid state of Georgia Physical Therapy License without sanctions and/or restrictions.
• Georgia PSC Clearance Certificate.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Work experience gained through education and certification/license requirements.
• 2 years of school-based therapy experience preferred.
• Will consider strong clinical background/work experience in pediatrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Formulates and facilitates therapy procedures for students with special needs.
• Represents the department of Special Education acting as a liaison between school, home, and medical setting.
• Trains teachers and classroom support personnel to administer certain therapy services/interventions to students.
• Examines and evaluates newly referred students for consideration of therapy services.
• Facilitates, designs, and participates in classroom instruction pertaining to therapy equipment in a classroom, community program/facility, or home-based setting.
• Analyzes medical and physical evaluation of special students; discusses implementation and delegates follow-up procedures and guidelines for the educational setting.
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
